About The Author
Tricia Ann Roloff is more than just an author. She’s walked the path this book explores. Drawing from her own diagnosis, years of nonprofit work, and heartfelt conversations with patients and families, she created this book to provide comfort and community.
Brain tumors affect more than the body. They impact memory, mood, personality, and connection. Whether benign or malignant, these diagnoses often feel overwhelming and isolating. This section sheds light on the emotional and neurological weight carried by patients and their families.
This book isn’t filled with statistics or clinical advice. It’s filled with people. You’ll meet patients of all ages, backgrounds, and outcomes. Their words speak honestly about pain, fear, recovery, and hope.
From personal essays and caregiver reflections to insights from neurosurgeons and hospital chaplains, Navigating Through a Strange Land covers the emotional and medical landscape of brain tumors from every possible perspective.
Whether you’re newly diagnosed or processing life after treatment, this book offers comfort and clarity. It reminds you that you are not alone and that healing can come in many forms.

This volume is meant to be a self-help book for people with brain tumors and their families. However, it has much that might be helpful for health care professionals, especially those just entering the field.... It will be very useful for chaplains or chaplaincy students who are encountering brain tumor patients for the first time.
Excellent book! While my husband was at Duke, I found this book in the library. It helped my family immensely as we read other people's experiences with a glioblastoma (Goodreads). (2022).
This is a really great book for anyone with a loved one suffering the devastation of brain cancer or suffering themselves. My father was diagnosed with a grade 4 tumor. I bought several books: While all of them were informative, this one was the most helpful.

Tricia’s work is dedicated to the brave patients and families who’ve shared their truth so that others might feel seen.
